The
Order of the Temple was intended to safeguard the Holy Places. This
made the legend asociase to search and custody of the sacred relics. In
fact, in one of his first pitches, in what is now the Al-Aqsa mosque, in
the courtyard of the former ancient temple of Solomon, the Holy of
Holies was being stored in the Ark of the Covenant. His syncretic
beliefs, learned even from other traditions, rituals, secret societies
themselves, on which disclose its meaning, being especially explanatory
to those that motivated his conviction ... or, to quote one of its
greatest enigmas, the image of Baphomet, made them stand out from
Catholic orthodoxy. All this, coupled with the fragility theological
originally drew its foundation-given nature of monks and warriors, in
contradiction with both peacemaker and loving message of Christ would
certainly be the source of his downfall. Once lost the confidence of the
Church in 1307, Clement V in collusion with the greedy King Philip the
Fair decided to end their two centuries of history.
